Study: Those Raised by Religious Hypocrites Turn to Atheism Later in Life

Matthew 7:1 DOESN’T MEAN:

  •      We dodge confrontation
  •      We reciprocate judgment
  •      We dismiss sin
  •      We become the standard

Walk humbly with God and with others!

  1. In genuine righteousness 2

Set the standard high by holding high standards… and pouring out abundant grace!
God is our standard – not ourselves, and not one another! (2 Corinthians 10:12)
Our motivation is to seek righteousness – not in pretense or outward conformity, nor with superiority.

  1. In genuine repentance 3, 5a

Sin hardens hearts – in our children, and in us! (Hebrews 3:12-13)
How do we take out our log?

  •      Regular examination (1 John 1:8)
  •      Regular confession (1 John 1:9)

Sincere repentance has sorrow for the sin, not consequences. (2 Corinthians 7:10)

  1. In genuine correction 4, 5b

Keep your heart right to best help others – or you’ll both fall into a pit! (Luke 6:39-40)
Love others enough to step in, confront, and help! (Ezekiel 33:7-8)
Aim to love and restore, not criticize and condemn! (Galatians 6:1)
