A Cut Above (Colossians 1:15-23)
Anchor your hope in Jesus!
- Jesus is the eternal Creator 15-17
Jesus is NOT a created being!
Jesus has the rights, status, and rank of a firstborn in ancient Jewish culture.
Jesus visibly reveals and represents the invisible God! (John 1:18, Hebrews 1:3)
Jesus designed, created, owns, and sustains all things!
- Jesus is the supreme Lord 16, 18
Jesus deserves first place in our hearts and lives – preeminence, not just prominence!
Jesus is the ultimate authority, worthy of all honor – our worship and obedience!
“In everything” – Jesus is Lord:
- Over the universe
- Over foreign kings
- Over every second of your life!
- Jesus is the divine Reconciler 19-23
Sinful man declared war against a holy God.
Jesus’ blood and death accomplished our peace treaty with God.
God takes pleasure in our reconciliation!
