The Goodness of God (Genesis 1:3-25)
GOOD
Definition – pleasing, beautiful, desirable, efficient, favorable
Scope – satisfactory in quality, morality, ability, or value
Creation reflects and displays God’s goodness!
God takes pleasure in His work of creation.
Enjoy God’s goodness seen in creation
- Blessed with God’s good design
God created everything with unique purpose.
God created all things good! (1 Timothy 4:4)
God sovereignly fits everything together for beautiful good! (Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20)
God did not design evil, but God’s plan accounts for and overcomes evil.
- Blessed with God’s good character
God’s goodness is poured out in creation:
- God is supremely good (Mark 10:18
- God is the source of all goodness! (Psalm 16:2)
- We are uniquely satisfied in our good God (Psalm 34:10, 107:9)!
- Blessed with God’s good gifts
Everything belongs to God (Romans 11:36); yet, He shares it all with us!
Our Creator gives good and perfect gifts (James 1:17) as our good Father (Matthew 7:11)!
Enjoyment of God’s good gifts stirs us to enjoy the good Giver!
