Bible Study Questions

▸ April 1 – Psalm 103:1-5

Do you think David wrote/prayed this Psalm during good times or hard times?  Why?
Why is self-talk necessary, and not crazy?
How do we “bless the Lord”?  What does that mean?
What are God’s benefits that we’re reminded of here?  How do we see these in our lives?
Why do we forget God’s benefits?

▸ April 8 – Psalm 103:1-10

In your own words, how would you title this Psalm or give a one-sentence summary? Why?
How has God used this Psalm for you in the last month?
Why do verses 3-5 say “your” instead of “our”?
How do you see God’s mercy in verses 6-10?
How did God reveal His ways and acts to Moses and Israel (v7)?
How does looking back help us look forward?

▸ April 15 – Psalm 103:8-14

We typically want God to give justice to others (Psalm 103:6) and mercy to us (Psalm 103:8).  What about when God has mercy on others?  What is God doing?
Where does Psalm 103:8 come from?  How can God’s Word fill our meditation and praise?

▸ April 22 – Psalm 103:10-19

How many words do we have for sin in this passage?  What is the meaning of each word?
What stark contrasts make God’s immeasurable love and mercy abundantly clear (Psalm 103:11-12)?
How do we “bless the Lord” with our hearts, and not just our lips (Psalm 103:11, 13, 17)?
How has David seen God’s fatherly compassion (Psalm 103:13)?
How does this Psalm describe man’s life as momentary but God’s attributes as eternal?  How does that encourage our trust in Him?

▸ April 29 – Psalm 103:15-22

As you have memorized and meditated on this psalm, what observations have impressed upon your heart?  What questions do you have?
At what times have you called to mind Psalm 103 for encouragement and challenge?  During what times should you have recalled Psalm 103?
How do verses 15-17 put this life into perspective?
How does verse 19 fit into the flow of this psalm?
All heaven and earth are declaring God’s praise (Psalm 103:20-22).  Why do we so easily deviate from that which we were created to do (Isaiah 43:7, 21)?
Compare and contrast Psalm 103 to all the self-help available in the world today.  Which do you choose?
