Sermon Notes

Rain Forecast (1 Kings 18:41-46)

Draw near to God in faith!

  1. With humble prayer 42

How will you respond to God’s truth and character revealed?
Beware of making prayer a work that we trust in!

Practice praying on your knees and on your face!
To humble yourself physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually before the Lord!

  1. With persistent prayer 43-44a

Fervent prayer is effective – but heart disposition matters! (James 5:16)
God delights in His children asking Him for what He has promised – remembering He is the good gift Giver! (James 1:17)
God uses our prayers to accomplish His purpose!
Don’t confuse personal stubbornness and persistent trust!

  1. With expectant prayer 44b-46

Why do we pray? To get what we want? Or to grow in trusting God?
God’s Word is true, and God’s promises are certain!  Anticipate His answers with readiness!

Seek God’s will expectantly, surrendering your requests and desires before Him!
Trust that God is able and rest in His sovereign care!
