Sermon Notes

Did God Say? (Genesis 3:1-7)

Know your enemy!

  • Deceptive slanderer (2 Corinthians 11:3)
  • Powerful (2 Corinthians 4:4)
  • Invented lying (John 8:44)
  • Against God (Ezekiel 28:16-17)
  • Against you (1 Peter 5:8)

Beware the powerful allure of temptation!

  1. Trust God’s goodness 2-5

Is God good?

  • We can trust His Word!
  • God is for us, not against us!
  • We are most fulfilled in His provision!

Anchor your trust in God’s Word and God’s character!

  1. Guard your desires 6

Unguarded desire leads down the path of temptation toward sin. (James 1:14-15)
Covetousness (Deuteronomy 5:21) lingers and longs.
Beware of discontentment that wants more than God.
Beware of succumbing to worldly loves! (1 John 2:16)

  1. Enjoy God’s fellowship 25, 7

Perfect fellowship with God was exchanged… for a lie. (Romans 1:25)
Our relationship with God directly influences our relationships with one another! (1 John 1:3, 6-7)
Security and intimacy turned to mistrust and alienation.
Life without God is empty!
