Anthropology: Designed, but Deviant

Anthropology

Here you can find an archive of a past study we completed on the biblical understanding of man entitled, "Anthropology: Designed, but Deviant."

This is a 10-week series to enable the church or small group to work through a biblical perspective of anthropology, the doctrine of man.  There are vast differences in how society attempts to understand the origin, meaning, purpose, and nature of man.  We will take a step back to recognize that, in order to understand ourselves, we who are designed must look to our Designer for the answers.  We will depend on God’s revelation of Himself and His design in the Scriptures, rather than the corrupt independent wisdom of man, which suppresses truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18).

This study is founded on the premise that mankind was designed for a purpose by our Designer, and that mankind has deviated from that design in an attempt to decide his own purpose, and thereby redesigning himself.  We will look frequently at the creation account in Genesis, as well as Psalm 8, which asks the question:  what is man??

We will also attempt to ask practical questions of the truths we wrestle with.  Therefore, we will not cover each aspect of biblical anthropology.  For this reason, I have included an overview statement of anthropology from my doctrinal paper presented to the ordination council.

May God grow us mightily in knowing Him more and move us to respond in worship, as He designed us!
