Peace Be with You

Disciples’ response to Jesus curiosity → awe → skepticism → fear → security → hope → (cross) → confusion → devastation → (empty tomb)

What will you do with the empty tomb?

Reflections on the resurrection: Romans 1:4, 1 Peter 1:3, Romans 10:9, 6:4-5, 9, 2 Corinthians 5:15, Ephesians 1:19-20, 2:4-6, 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17

Find steadfast peace in the risen Jesus!

  1. “See” for yourself

Jesus began with an invitation: “Come and see.” (John 1:39)
That Jesus was seen is a confirmation of the gospel. (1 Corinthians 15:5–8)
Though we cannot see Jesus today, we must personally investigate.  Did Jesus rise again? What will I do with this?

  1. Trust the witnesses

Faith is not rooted in abstract concept, but in truth and historical fact!
God fulfilled His promises: resurrection, peace, Holy Spirit… (Rom 4:20–21)
Disciples were not easily persuaded, but Jesus gave many infallible proofs. (Acts 1:3)
Faith gives way to worship!

  1. Go with power

Jesus appeared to those He chose as witnesses. (Acts 10:40–41)
Jesus commissions us with peace!
We are equipped with Scripture, which enables knowledge and faith!
They could not be silenced about the truths they had learned, experienced, and trusted! (Acts 4:19–20)
