Jesus redirects us to spiritual pursuits!

1. Jesus breaks down barriers

What guards do you have up?

The gospel’s reach is not limited by:

  • Morality
  • Geography (Acts 1:8)
  • Religion (Ephesians 2:13-14)
  • Ethnicity, status, or gender (Galatians 3:28)

2. Jesus offers deeper satisfaction

Thirst derives from both necessity and desire.

We are ingrained with a natural craving for something greater! (Psalm 42:1-2, 63:1, 5)

When everything else leaves us empty, Jesus is incomprehensibly satisfying! (Isaiah 55:1-2, Psalm 34:8, 16:11)

Do you truly know what it is to be satisfied in Jesus?  Do your pursuits reflect that?

3. Jesus confronts hidden sin

Would you encounter Jesus unchanged?

Jesus targets our sin with grace!

  • My sin reveals my heart. (Matthew 15:19)
  • It’s painful to be exposed! (John 3:19-20)
  • That sin doesn’t satisfy! (John 4:13-14)
  • Jesus IS grace and truth. (John 1:14)
  • We must understand we’re lost in order to be saved. (Luke 19:10)

4. Jesus redefines true worship

True worship cannot happen without being born of the Spirit (John 3:3, 5).

True worship cannot happen without knowing Jesus, the incarnate Truth (John 1:14).

Worship is a posture of the heart in response to God revealed to us in His Word and His Son!

  • Hearts drawing near (Matthew 15:8)
  • Hearts inclined to obedience (Psalm 119:112)
  • Wholehearted love (Deuteronomy 6:5)
  • Hearts trusting (Proverbs 3:5), guarded (Proverbs 4:23), offered (Psalm 19:14)
